Finally, end it off in South Luangwa, with landscapes and wildlife views to make your heart sing. As honeymoons or anniversaries go, this journey is one for the books.

Day 1 - 4

Western Cape

Grootbos Forest Lodge

A world of its own, Grootbos is an award-winning, five-star eco-friendly escape. Located around the Southern tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, the ecosystem is incredibly unique, including 868 plant species and three milkwood forests over 1,000 years old. Here you will feel the most immersed in nature you’ve ever felt, surrounded by mountains, forest, and the ocean but living in absolute luxury. It’s the ultimate romantic setting.

Why we recommend

  • Grootbos Private Nature Reserve™ is an award-winning five-star eco-paradise.
  • 180-degree breathtaking views of the ocean, fynbos and sunsets.
  • 2,500 hectares of pristine wilderness.
  • Beauty Treatments are set amidst the serenity of a Milkwood forest or near lush landscaped gardens using locally sourced products.

Day 4 - 7

Cape Town

Steinway Suite at 21 Nettleton

Everything about Steinway Suite at 21 Nettleton oozes grand luxury, with ample space and high-end finishes. The view is what steals the show, however. From sipping sundowners on the terrace to enjoying a bubble bath, you are ideally positioned to soak in the view of the mountains and ocean. You also have your own private library, lounge, and dining area — complete with a Steinway grand piano.

Why we recommend

  • An elevated boutique hotel experience.
  • You will struggle to find a more spectacular view and location in Cape Town, perched high above Clifton and Bantry Bay.
  • 21 Nettleton only has six rooms and allows for a private, secluded stay.
  • The private setting next to the pool, on the garden terrace or in one of the lounges allows for tailored experiences to your taste.

Day 7 - 11

Victoria Falls

Matetsi Victoria Falls

At Matetsi Victoria Falls, it’s all about the small moments we like to refer to as Matesti Magic. And a honeymoon or romantic getaway requires an extra dose of magic. Here romance takes centre stage, with glittering river views, private plunge pools, and gazing into each other’s eyes during star-lit dinners.

It was the Gardiner family’s vision to showcase everything exceptional about their home country, Zimbabwe. This was realised by shining a light on local artisans and creating a conservation legacy for future generations. From the distinctly African interior design to the warm hospitality our home soil is known for, Matesti Victoria Falls is the ultimate base for exploring the Falls and wildlife-packed landscapes. Here you will experience riverside living at its finest, with the mighty Zambezi lulling you to sleep.

Why we recommend

  • The ultimate honeymoon itinerary, combining action-packed adventure with alone time in your luxury riverside suite.
  • The Victoria Falls, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders), is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
  • Matetsi Private Game Reserve has 15km of exclusive river frontage and is set on 136,000 acres of pristine bush, ensuring a truly exclusive safari experience.
  • Wine and dine under the stars for the most romantic evenings.

Day 11 - 14

South Luangwa

Chinzombo

Effortlessly blending luxury with respect for Mother Nature, Chinzombo offers a sophisticated, low-impact wildlife escape. Located in the heart of the thriving Luangwa National Park, you have direct access to its incredibly diverse landscapes and wildlife. With ultra-romantic experiences on offer, such as a sleepout under the stars, soaking in your tub overlooking the plains, or appreciating the delicate balance of nature on a walking safari, Chinzombo is the perfect final chapter on your romantic journey.

Why we recommend

  • Stretching out over 9,000 square kilometres and only an hour’s flight away from Lusaka or Lilongwe, the game-rich South Luangwa National Park offers an authentic, unfenced, and unspoiled wilderness experience.
  • Each villa has a private pool and soaking tub with panoramic views over the river and its abundant wildlife.
  • Sleepout Under the Stars is an adventurous addition to any safari, allowing you to reconnect with nature.
  • The area is known for fantastic walking safaris as well as boating safaris in season.

Frequently Asked Questions

An average between low and high season pricing has been used to create an average cost as a rough indication only. Seasonal and tactical offers and deals exist at most of the properties in our featured African itineraries. We have not included these in the calculations for now and will apply them according to the dates and season you want to travel. Please enquire for exact pricing for your intended travel dates.
All year round is good for Victoria Falls and the Greater Kruger National Park areas although for Cape Town, the main rainy season falls over June and July. At Grootbos, although the whale coast has a similar climate, June till October is the best whale watching season. For South Luangwa National Park, most lodges are seasonal and close between November and May but not Chinzombo. The main rainy season for both Victoria Falls and Greater Kruger Park falls between November and February, however, this period, which is known as the “Green Season”, is also a wonderful time to visit and is the main birding season where migratory species can also be seen. In the Victoria Falls area, the ‘Low Water’ period runs between August and January and is at its lowest between November and early December. The best views of the falls at this time will be Devil’s Cataract which is permanent and on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available at all locations however, due to the remote location of your safari destination at the end, access will be limited to sending emails and the use of instant messaging services but not for media streaming.
Yes, all we require is your initial deposit of 30% of the cost to confirm your itinerary. We will share a link with you to add to your registry which will allow your wedding guests to contribute towards your dream honeymoon up until 60 days prior to the wedding. We may even be able to refund your deposit depending on how popular this choice of gift turns out to be.
