Victoria Falls

One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World

What to expect

The Victoria Falls itself, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders), is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the “largest waterfall on Earth”.

On your guided walking tour of the falls, you will have the opportunity to discover the many facets of the magnificent Victoria Falls. During this exceptional excursion, you can explore the surrounding rainforest in the company of your personal guide who is intimately acquainted with the history of the Falls, as well as its geological significance, and its flora and fauna. You’ll have the opportunity to soak up the beautiful vistas, lush surroundings, magical waterfalls, and the spray of the Falls.

We offer a complimentary scheduled guided walking tour of the falls for our guests. Your personal tour guide will be with you from when you depart the lodge by air-conditioned transfer vehicle and will take care of everything (including National Parks fees on entry to the rainforest), so you can relax and enjoy the whole experience.

A helicopter flight over the Falls offers the renowned ‘Flight of the Angels’ aerial view of the largest sheet of falls water on Earth. And a high tea on the terrace at the Victoria Falls Hotel offers a lovely view across to the Victoria Falls bridge with the spray of the falls in the background.

The town of Victoria Falls also offers a wide range of cultural and adrenalin activities. Whether you’d like to ‘Meet the People’ on a village tour and homestead visit, bungee jump off the Victoria Falls bridge, zipline across the Batoka gorge or white-water raft down the rapids of the Zambezi, there’s something for everyone here. Half-day or full day tour in and around Victoria Falls can be tailor-made to your activity preferences. We manage and monitor all arrangements and services to ensure they are to the high standard you expect.

Best time to go

Victoria Falls is a year-round destination. The water levels of the Falls rise and drop seasonally, so you may wish to time your visit for a specific activity. For example, white-water rafting and the Devil’s Pool swim are only available in low water season (typically September to December), whereas if you’re hoping to see the spray cloud from the Falls, we’d recommend travelling in High Water season (from around March through to May).

What to pack

For your guided walking tour of the falls, you’ll want to wear good non-slip walking shoes, and you may wish to bring your own poncho. The Victoria Falls rainforest provides a feast of photo opportunities, so don’t forget your camera. If travelling with children, we recommend carrying ID as proof of age.

Activities

The guided walking tour of the falls is one of the best ways to soak in this World Wonder. We also highly recommend the helicopter tour in Victoria Falls, which gives you the opportunity to experience the ‘Flight of Angels’ aerial view of the spectacular waterfall. The town of Victoria Falls also offers a wide range of cultural and adrenalin activities. Whether you’d like to ‘Meet the People’ on a village tour and homestead visit, bungee jump off the Victoria Falls bridge, zip-line across the Batoka gorge or white-water raft down the rapids of the Zambezi, there’s something for everyone here. Half-day or full day tour in and around Victoria Falls can be tailor-made to your activity preferences. We manage and monitor all arrangements and services to ensure they are to the high standard you expect.
