Day 1 - 4

Victoria Falls

Matetsi Victoria Falls

At Matetsi Victoria Falls, it’s all about the small moments we like to refer to as Matesti Magic. It was the Gardiner family’s vision to showcase everything exceptional about their home country, Zimbabwe. This was realised by shining a light on local artisans and creating a conservation legacy for future generations. From the distinctly African interior design to the warm hospitality our home soil is known for, Matesti Victoria Falls is the ultimate base for exploring the Falls and wildlife-packed landscapes. Here you will experience riverside living at its finest, with the mighty Zambezi lulling you to sleep.

Why we recommend

  • The ultimate combination itinerary, including safari, river, and Victoria Falls adrenaline adventures balanced with tranquillity.
  • The Victoria Falls, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders), is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
  • Matetsi Private Game Reserve has 15km of exclusive river frontage and is set on 136,000 acres of pristine bush, ensuring a truly exclusive safari experience.
  • Privately owned and managed by the Gardiner family, with a strong focus on conservation and social development.

Day 5 - 8

Okavango Delta

Xigera Safari Lodge

In the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, with exclusive access to the mysterious Delta wetland paradise, Xigera Safari Lodge is in the ideal setting to experience Botswana’s wildlife. Raised wooden walkways and luxury suites give you an elevated view of the Papyrus-fringed swamps and watery tendrils of the Delta. Here you don’t even have to leave your room to see the many wildlife species playing, hunting, sipping, and feasting in their wetland. The sky is also a flurry of activity with varying birdlife to the delight of any birding or photography enthusiast.

Frequently Asked Questions

An average between low and high season pricing has been used to create an average cost as a rough indication only. Seasonal and tactical offers and deals exist at most of the properties in our featured African itineraries. We have not included these in the calculations for now and will apply them according to the dates and season you want to travel. Please enquire for exact pricing for your intended travel dates.
All year round is good for both destinations and each time of the year has a different appeal. In both areas, Victoria Falls can be very hot and humid in Octobers. The main rainy season for both regions is between November and February but even this period, which is known as the “Green Season” is a wonderful time to visit. In the Victoria Falls area, the ‘Low Water’ period runs between August and January and is at its lowest between November and early December. The best views of the falls at this time will be Devil’s Cataract which is permanent and on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls. The peak season and best time to visit the Okavango Delta is during winter months (May to October). During this time the floodwaters build, peaking in September, and the thinning foliage allows for greater visibility in spotting wildlife.
We can extend or reduce stays in each of the destinations or even substiture an alternative property within the Okvanago Delta should availability be limited for the period you wish to travel over. There are mutiple access points for each destination and the order of the itinerary can be reversed as well.
With the exception of Kosher or Halaal requirements, our skilled chefs are happy to cater for all dietary preferences. Advance notice is recommended.
When packing for a safari holiday to Botswana, less is more. The maximum luggage allowance on charter aircraft flights is 20kg (44lb) per person, plus one piece of hand luggage or a camera bag. Where space allows, additional seats may be booked for excess luggage. Each additional seat that you book enables you to travel with an additional 70kg (154lb) of luggage.
